I am a teacher at heart; it's in my bones. I love teaching and bring my enthusiasm for the Spanish language and culture to my lessons. I want to see that my students are engaged and enjoying themselves, leaving my lessons with an increased confidence in their abilities in Spanish. Tutoring Experience

I originally grew up in the US but have lived in the UK for 13 years. I have a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and a Master's degree in Spanish from Texas A&M University. I have taught Spanish at many different levels of ability and many different age levels, from pre-schoolers to mature learners. I have taught as a university lecturer, teaching beginning Spanish. I have run my own business teaching pre-school Spanish classes. I have worked as a private tutor teaching students preparing for their GCSEs, mature learners wanting to improve their Spanish for their holidays to Spain and students who just want to learn for fun. Although I am not a native speaker, I have lived in both Mexico and Spain as an exchange student for a total of three years. I am therefore able to approach language teaching from the perspective of the learner as I have been there myself.

Tutoring Approach

I teach one to one or in small groups. I like to first find out what your goals are, what your learning style is, what you feel your strengths and weaknesses are in Spanish and then I tailor the lessons to suit your needs. My lessons are in-person and vary in length depending on the age of the learner. I find that younger learners do better with 30-minute lessons whereas older learners can handle 1 hour lessons. As with everything in life, not all personalities go well together which is why it's important to find a tutor that you or your child get along with. I offer the first lesson for free so that we can both make sure that it's a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you!
