I am an Honours Graduate in German from Liverpool University where I also studied French as a subsidiary subject. I gained an A grade in English A Level and have been teaching English both as my day job (till 2015) and as a private tutor for the past 5 years. I currently work at Bradford University, and am based in Shipley.
I have considerable experience of teaching English GCSE privately to 16-19 year olds and work at Bradford University where part of my job is to help students with their programmes of study. I have a good knowledge of the GCSE syllabus for English, following AQA, Edexcel, or OCR exam board specifications. I have taught GCSE English over the past 5 years to young people, with all my students achieving their desired high grades. I also have experience of teaching English to adult learners whilst at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College and at Bradford College.
My approach is flexible, depending on the wishes of the student. In the case of GCSE students my aim is essentially to look at specific areas where the student wishes to improve and focus on the requirements of the syllabus, mark scheme and look at past papers. I will help with Literature analysis and with developing the student's ability in their written English. For more casual students, I would be guided by their wishes and would be happy to help with oral, comprehension and written skills in English.
