I have been teaching geography for 19 years. Im passionate about helping students to improve their knowledge, understanding and skills in preparation for exams. I have tutored for 10 years, with a track record of significantly improving results for students both at GCSE and A-Level geography.

Tutoring Experience

I've been a qualified teacher since 1999. Working in a number of secondary schools I have experience of teaching geography from aged 11-18. This has included GCSE and A level teaching in numerous exam boards. I tutor all exam boards for GCSE , AS and A level. I am an examiner for GCSE Geography so have a deep understanding of exam requirements and how to achieve the most marks in exam questions. I lead human and physical field trips and am therefore well equipped to support students in their NEA at A level and for fieldwork exam papers at GCSE.

Tutoring Approach

My philosophy to tuition is to first listen to the student and what they believe are their areas of strength and areas for development. I draw upon evidence from prior exam performance and current exam practice to diagnose gaps in knowledge and skills and then tailor this to the individual needs of the student. I draw upon a spectrum of teaching and learning resources and techniques with proven results in improving performance. I track with the student where improvements are being made to encourage and motivate them further.
