Experienced Curriculum Leader and Assistant Head with outstanding results such as over 40% students at GCSE achieving 9-7 grades. I am a well qualified teacher who has worked successfully in several secondary schools across South Wales, and I currently teach in a successful academy in South West London. My main subject is history but I have also taught English, Media Studies, Health and Social Care and Welsh Baccalaureate. I have also held responsibility for whole school literacy, numeracy and ICT. I am a marker/moderator for GCSE, igcse and A Level History for several examination boards, thus have thorough knowledge of the exam requirements. This ensures that my students are successful. For example, all my A Level students in 2019 achieved A* to B, and all my GCSE students achieved grades 5 to 9, with half achieving grades 7 to 9.
I have 20 years experience as a Head of History, Head of Humanities and senior leader. I have considerable experience and success at examination level, both GCSE and A Level. For example, my average pass rate at A*-C for A Level history over the course of my career is over 96%; at GCSE History this is 90%. I have also taught GCSE English and GCSE and A Level Media Studies, where my results were excellent. I also have experience of teaching BTEC/GCSE Health and Social Care and preparing students for 13+ entrance exams in history.
I like to tailor my sessions to the individual, and to make them interactive. I think that it is important to use plenty of focus on examination technique at GCSE and A Level so that students are well prepared for their examinations.
