I am passionate about teaching and learning and am currently studying for an MSc in Psychology at the University of Derby alongside teaching in a secondary school. I began my career as a music teacher, teaching music for 11 years in two different secondary schools. I took on A Level Psychology as the sole psychology teacher in 2017, delivering the Edexcel A Level specification, alongside teaching music, before becoming a full time teacher of psychology in a new school in 2020. I teach AQA A Level Psychology, Level 3 BTEC National Extended Certificate in Applied Psychology and WJEC Level 3 Applied Diploma in Criminology. I am also an examiner for AQA A Level Psychology.
I have 15 years experience as a secondary school teacher. I began my career teaching music from Year 7 up to Year 13, leading a Music department and teaching Level 2 and 3 BTEC Music as well as GCSE and A Level Music.
I have taught Psychology at A Level in two different schools for over six years, delivering both the Edexcel and AQA specifications. I have taught across a wide range of topics and have attended psychology specific CPD including The ATP conference and training on Achieving A/A* at A Level.
I am a well-established teacher with a variety of different teaching strategies that I can apply to best suit the individual needs of a student. I can compliment students' in school learning by helping with understanding content and developing exam technique, as well as more direct teaching of any areas where there are gaps in learning or misconceptions. My approach will always be tailored to meet individual needs and continually reviewed and adapted as necessary.
