I am a young, enthusiastic and motivated Psychology teacher which a broad passion for the subject. I want to expand into tutoring as I have found supporting students one-to-one to be one of the most enjoyable aspects of my job as these sessions have allowed me to see them making the most progress.
I am currently halfway through my first year of teaching at a 16-18 college in North Sheffield. It is a highly academic college with a large focus on achieving the highest results possible and sending our students to the best universities. I have mixed ability students from targets of a D grade all the way through to A grade targets which makes me suitable to tutor students of any ability level.
I am currently the only Psychology teacher, I have been in charge of organising the course and acquiring all course materials. I teach the AQA Specification and we are inputting our students for AS exams as well as A2 exams so I have relevant experience for all students sitting A-level AQA Psychology exams this year. I have chosen to teach Relationships, Schizophrenia and Forensics as my option topics for Year 13.
During this year I have attended a course with Tutor2U which have given me extra valuable experience of how to help my students achieve the best grades in their upcoming exams.
During this year I have had students who have needed extra support, weaker students who have needed help in achieving their target grade and more able students who have needed an extra push to get them to an A grade.
This support has centred around exam technique, especially on essays as these tend to be the weakest areas for students and are vital in improving grades.
My tutoring focuses around firstly identifying the weaker areas and then practising the skills in those areas which will usually involve lots of exam questions to improve these key skills.
