I am a nearly 50 year old, wife and mother to 1 son. I also work as Senior Nurse in Northampton. Throughout my career I have continued to study and am now undertaking my Professional Doctorate which involves a piece of research and a thesis of 60,000 words.
I qualified as a Nurse and then undertook the degree programme. After that, I achieved my MA in Management Studies and now I am working towards my Professional Doctorate. I currently teach Nursing Students, supervise their projects and mark the assignments. I have experience of being a student and teaching and so I have the all round understanding of academic requirements.
The one thing I am passionate about is helping students reach their full potential. In the world of academic writing at any level, it’s not just what you know but how you present that knowledge. I can help a student write in an organised way, that truly shows their abilities.
I mark degree level essays and often it is evident that a student knows the topic but just can’t demonstrate this, poor essay and sentence structure, grammar, attention to detail and referencing make it very hard to fully recognise the knowledge that student has. Academic essay writing is a skill I can offer that will build the foundations for you/your child. This will also allow them to continue their learning beyond A levels, should they choose to do so.
Although I am a Professional Doctorate student, at school I was never a stand out pupil. My reports always said, “tries hard but……” I understand how difficult this skill can be to learn. It’s been my motivation, determination and enthusiasm that have gotten me to this level. Now, I want to help others who just need guidance to reach their own potential.
The tutoring that I offer is led by the needs of the student. It may be 1 or 2 sessions to help point them in the right direction. It may take a bit longer or you might ask that I help with the writing of a particular assignment. It may be that after a few sessions you/your child dips in and out as they need help. Ultimately, I want you/your child to succeed and I aim to give them the tools to do this.
