I have lived in London for ten years and enjoy painting, swimming, running, meditating, cycling, going to the cinema and galleries. I also enjoy going to the London Buddhist Centre and I go on buddhist retreats a couple of times a year.
I have taught for over ten years in high achieving secondary schools in East London. I have held a Head of Physics post for the majority of that time. I have a Physics and Maths PGCE from the world's leading education institute; UCL. I have an undergraduate and masters degree in physics from the University of Nottingham, with further research experience from the University of Bristol and the University of Tokyo. I have four years experience as a personal tutor in both maths and science.
My classroom teaching experience provides me with a thorough, up to date knowledge of all three science exam board specifications, and detailed markscheme requirements. This keeps my tutor sessions directed, timely and provides students with substantial grade improvement. I guide students to find their own way through difficult problems, through use of qusetioning and scaffolding techniques, rather than simple telling them the answer, or talking for long chunks of time. This fosters independance and confidence, and helps them enjoy the subject. I use a range of applications to captivate students during my lessons, and I have a calm and friendly nature which helps students relax and thrive.
Finally, my experience of studying and working in four universities, and my contacts in a wide range of graduate careers leaves me in a excellent position to discuss UCAS applications and future career choices.
