My name is Colin. I studied with the Open University to do my degree in History as it is something that I have always enjoyed tremendously. I am always looking for an opportunity to visit somewhere, watch or read something that falls into my personal interest. My degree focused on Nineteenth and Twentieth Century Political and Social History, Roman Military and Social History, England and France during the 17th Century and TV and Film History.
I currently work in a secondary School teaching History for over 10 years. In this time I have taught at GCSE level The Development of Warfare, The Cold War, The Court of Henry VIII and his ministers, Protest in the USA, The USA in the 1920's, The American West and Weimar and Nazi Germany, to name a few. I am also a member of the Historical Association. My degree is primarily Historical but I have covered extensively all three Humanities subjects (Geography, Religious Studies and History) in my career up to GCSE levels.
My lessons have been adapted to meet my students needs on an individual basis. My lessons include a variety of resources in different formats to appeal to different learning styles. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction that seeing my students enthused for the topics that I am teaching them and I actively encourage an enquiry/questioning approach to these different themes. I am continually available for my students via email between lessons.
