I started out as an online tutor two years ago and I have always loved to help children of any age, specifically in Maths as this is where I particularly struggled. From Year 4 to Year 5 and in Year 11, I had a Maths tutor to help boost my confidence and luckily, I had really great tutors with amazing energy and patience. They are both my inspiration for tutoring and I strive to be as great as they were for me, if not better! From my GCSE qualifications, I achieved an 8 in Mathematics and whilst I did not further study Maths at A-Level (and regret not doing so), I still learn Maths alongside my Psychology degree as we carry out a lot of research and have to analyse it in both a quantitative and qualitative way so I am still very confident in my Maths skills.
I started out as an online tutor November last year (2022) with a company called MyTutor. It started as a way to get a bit of extra money whilst in university but now I love getting new students and helping children of all ages to help boost their confidence and self-esteem so they can achieve their best!
I like my students to be as independent as possible in their lessons so I will often get them to complete questions by themselves. However, if I see the student struggling, I will step in and guide them through the questions. I use practice questions and topic-based questions with my students as I find it is the best way to practice and teach topics. I always try and tailor the lessons to the student in regards to how much help and guidance they may need.
