I am a fully qualified teacher Cert.Ed., PGCE, CELTA with an enhanced CRB/dbs and a counselling qualification. I have been working as a private tutor for over 20 years- since my eldest child was born- teaching children and adults a range of subjects from KS2 to A Level.

During each one hour session, your child will be fully committed to a process of learning which is both challenging and engaging.
After an initial assessment, I create an individual scheme of work which supports your child in the weaker areas, helps them to develop confidence and knowledge so that they can subsequently achieve their potential. I help your child develop stratagem and skills that are used both in the classroom and the exam room. Students predicted a fail regularly achieve a B after tuition, and those predicted a mere pass at GCSE often go on to achieve A or even A*. I have high expectations of all my students and they generally live up to them!

I am fully acquainted with all the current syllabi: AQA/IGCSE/etc Trinity/Cambridge EAL/EFL exams and Trinity Guildhall.

I have two daughters: The eldest who is an English graduate from the University of Exeter and is currently working at The House of Lords. My youngest is completing her Masters degree at St. Andrews University in Scotland and interning with the former First Minister of Scotland.

In my spare time I raise money for charity,singing with a local choir and am indulging in a creative writing course. I practise what I preach!

Tutoring Approach

I have worked as a private tutor since 1992 teaching English Lit. Lang. Drama, KS2 English and Maths and 11-13}+. I have taught and been a Head of Dept.in both the state and private sector and have taught at both Junior and senior level. I am now also working within the SENCO dept. of a prestigious private preparatory school.

My 11+ success rate has been almost 100% and I have been happy to support appeals when necessary.

My English Lit. and Lang. students have all excelled and gained entry to top universities, including Oxbridge, St. Andrews, Exeter and Warwick to name but a few. My pass rate at GCSE is 100% with most achieving the higher grades.

My drama students have gone on to study at drama schools, drama at university and many have undertaken professional work in film, TV, theatre and radio.

I am happy to teach children over the age of 7-years and of course adults.
