With a Master's degree and a PhD in Mathematics, I have had the privilege of teaching the subject since 2016, gaining a wealth of experience across diverse educational settings. Teaching is both a passion and a pathway for my personal growth. It offers me the opportunity to share the elegance and depth of mathematics while simultaneously enhancing my own understanding of the subject. This dynamic interaction not only strengthens my knowledge but also fuels my enthusiasm for helping others discover the joy of learning mathematics.
During my PhD studies at the University of St Andrews, I taught a wide range of mathematical disciplines, leading tutorials and example classes. I also volunteered at the university's Maths Base, providing one-on-one support to students from various degree programs, and offered private tutoring for an International Foundation Year student. In my recent postdoctoral position at the University of York, I led seminars for multiple modules and lectured an undergraduate course. More recently, as a supply teacher, I have had the opportunity to teach mathematics to pupils aged 11-16.
My primary goals as a teacher are to convey the beauty of mathematics and help students develop their mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
As an teacher, I prioritise patience, clarity and accessibility, aiming to break down complex ideas into their fundamental components and explain them in simple, understandable terms. I believe that a solid foundation is crucial for students to build upon, and that repetition, combined with gradually increasing complexity, is essential to mastering mathematical concepts.
