I am passionate about teaching and languages, which is why I continually pursue a deeper understanding in these fields, and why I approach every class with excitement and energy. I am a qualified teacher and linguist by three Universities (Complutense, UNED and Roehampton) and by Instituto Cervantes. I also hold a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in the UK. Since all my studies and experience have been focused on teaching and languages, I have all the necessary tools to teach you Spanish in a clear and creative way that adapts to your particular needs.
In addition, I am an official DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) examiner. If you would like to prepare for these tests, with me you will have the advantage of doing so with someone who knows the intricacies of the exam, and with work, you will get excellent results. I also prepare GCSA and A level exams, having done so for many years successfully.
If what you are looking for is learning for the joy of it, you will find in my lessons the perfect atmosphere in which in a fun and entertaining way, you will be able to discover this wonderful language and its culture, and you will become fluent not only linguistically, but also in the etiquette of different social situations.
For those students whose aim is a career development, the sessions will adapt to the specific field, that being work meetings, interviews, legal Spanish, Spanish for business, etc. My experience is also broad in this field, having worked with banks and law professionals for several years.
Finally, I also hold a Physical Education degree, which in conjunction to my Estill voice and phonetics and phonology studies, has been very useful to help my students improve their pronunciation, as well as to prepare actors to imitate the accent.
I have a very broad experience in teaching both one-to-one and groups. I have worked for over a decade with students from many different backgrounds, ages and specific needs, including six years teaching at a corporate bank branch and helping many understand legal language. I also help young students to achieve their best results in GCSE and A Levels and provide survival courses to those learning in a rush for their holidays.
I use a communicative approach in my lessons (I will make you talk!) so students feel that they are having a meaningful immersion. I have seen that the most effective and motivating way to do this is by bringing to the class tasks from the real world, making the learning process feel natural and useful. In addition to this, I believe that a boring experience is the last thing a student needs, which is why I do my best to deliver lessons that are interesting and exciting, while of course, still being effective.
I believe there are not bad students, but bad methods and unplanned lessons. I adapt my classes to my students' needs, aims and personality so that they finish lessons feeling confident and knowing that they can apply with autonomy what they have learnt.
I am also passionate about music, sports and literature, and I love to connect with my students and make our lessons even more in engaging.
