I am a fully qualified teacher with 8 years of experience offering tuition in English, German and 11+ entrance examinations. I completed my PGCE (teaching qualification) at Oxford University, having previously completed my undergraduate studies at the University of St Andrews in German and Philosophy. I am familiar with the current Modern Languages and English Language/Literature GCSE requirements across the different exam boards.
I am also experienced in tutoring English at Key Stage 3. I am skilled at helping pupils develop the skills needed to succeed with the current GCSE specifications, including reading comprehension, writing skills in a variety of styles, spelling, punctuation and grammar, as well as literature.
This is in addition to experiencing in tutoring 11 Plus English, Maths Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, and I have an in depth knowledge of requirements for the tests across Yorkshire and beyond. I have a record of previous success with pupils gaining entry to their chosen schools.
I am a very friendly and approachable person and experienced in teaching a variety of different ability levels. I use a variety of teaching methods to make learning interesting and fun, in order to get the best out of my students. I am skilled at establishing pupils' individual learning needs and tailoring lessons to ensure they can make as much progress as possible.
I have a strong academic record, achieving 9 A* and A grades at GCSE and 3 A grades at A level.
