I am a dynamic and innovative educator with a student centred approach to learning, possessing approximately 20 years experience of working across key stages three to higher education specialising in teaching Psychology , Sociology, Government and Politics. I am also equipped to support students with varied literacy needs and have a proven record of outstanding value added to learners’ progress . My qualifications include 3 Masters Degrees in the above mentioned subjects.

Tutoring Experience

Over the past 20 years, I have gained experience working in key roles supporting children, young people and adults in various sectors, including, education, the youth offending team, and the voluntary sector in the UK, USA and Jamaica.

Current: Head of Social Sciences and T Level Health at a High School in Barnet. Responsible for Key stage 4& 5 Social Sciences subjects, including Psychology , Sociology and Health and Social Care.

2014-2023 : Head of department for A level Sociology and Section Leader for the faculty of social sciences and Humanities

Advanced Skilled Teacher and Deputy Head of Social Sciences: A Level Psychology and Sociology Provision- I was responsible for the management and quality assurance of teaching and learning across the social sciences department. Line managed the teaching and learning criteria of approximately
28 teachers’ job role. Worked in partnership with the Assistant Director to raise the profile of the department from a grade 3 to a grade 1.

I am passionate about pedagogical approaches which encourage the holistic development of the learner, encourages critical thinking and enables students to maximise their potential. I believe in a student centred approach to learning, where students are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning and become active learners in the process of receiving knowledge.
