I am a qualified full time chemistry teacher who enjoys teaching and working with young people! I have taught a number of students from FirstTutors and without exception they have all made significant progress and made great strides in their knowledge and understanding of chemistry. It is always pleasing to see my tutees gain confidence in their own ability and to share in their journey as they improve their test/exam results.
Please note that the recent Government announcement relating to VAT on private school fees is resulting in my receiving a large number of enquiries for tutoring. My available slots are therefore likely to be filled much sooner than usual this year.
I have twenty five years experience of teaching in private schools including six years as Head of Chemistry at Oundle School. I have also written a number of revision guides/workbooks (at both GCSE and A-Level) for Collins/Letts. In addition, I am an examiner and question setter for an examination board.
I am calm, patient and have a number of proven techniques and strategies to enable students to 'get chemistry' and to optimise performance in exams. I enjoy teaching (which is why I choose to tutor!) and will work hard to ensure you are able to do your best.
I strongly believe that if you enjoy lessons then you are less likely to find it difficult and so enjoyment and making progress are important to me. As such, if after the first session you decide that you do not feel that I am the right tutor then I will happily reimburse the fee that you pay FirstTutors for my details as it is important to me that the tutor you choose is a perfect match,. No-one has ever not returned!
Chemistry is a very difficult subject to master but if you have a firm grasp of the foundations of the subject then you really can make significant progress in a short period of time. We will work together to ensure that you fully understand the core ideas and from this you will build success and realise your potential.
