I am a fully qualified UK born and qualified English schoolteacher with twenty years classroom and home tutoring experience with an honours degree from the University of London and PGCE post graduate teaching qualification.
I have taught in the state and private sector in the UK with stints teaching in Spain and India for over twenty years. The age groups that I have taught in school range from 5 to 18 and therefore the whole gamut of primary and secondary education. Alongside my classroom teaching, I have tutored extensively with Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 students, GCSE and IGCSE and 'A' level students.
I am of the firm belief that learning should be enjoyable and inject my classes with enthusiasm, expert subject knowledge and focus upon unlocking the special potential that all of my students possess. None of my students are allowed to believe that they have a learning ceiling and I seek to promote self-belief and confidence into my students. I have a high technology, dedicated tutorial room with multiple monitor screens where for example, students' work can be displayed on one screen and assessment objectives on another. This "techie" approach reflects modern and contemporary approaches to learning in step with today's internet generation.
With examination students, I place emphasis upon the assessment objectives and weighting of the examination. This approach enables students to be aware of exactly what is required for the very highest grades and how to achieve them. My students are encouraged to be superbly reflective and to be able to assess their own work with recourse to examination criteria and exemplars. A critical student becomes a student whose learning becomes greatly accelerated and nearly all of my students make significant progress quickly - and this quick progress is self-motivating in itself.
