I'm an outgoing and chatty person who enjoys engaging with others. I graduated from the University of Southampton in 2013 with a 2i in Economics and Management. I work for a Vodafone Group as Head of Innovation, where I am responsible for new lines of business, the future of Vodafone. I enjoy the opportunity to do some tutoring and work alongside an individual which is very different to my work role.
My first tutoring experience involved successfully taking an individual through GCSE Maths, raising his grade from a predicted grade of E to an achieved grade of C in 2 months. This involved working through methods of approaching typical problems and addressing 'panic' when seeing a question that seemed unusual.
Over the last 5+ years I have tutored a variety of abilities, specialising in preparation for GCSE Maths. I am comfortable working with both struggling students and with those who need a little bit more challenge to keep them engaged with the subject.
I firmly believe that if the individual enjoys the learning experience, then they will learn better. The tutoring needs to be provided in such a way that engages and interests the student. This requires a bespoke approach as each individual is different. This is why tutoring is often successful where schooling perhaps struggles; the sessions can be tailored to fit the individual student. I will spend time understanding the needs of the student, which topics they find difficult, and determine why they struggle in these areas. I will then assess how we can work together to improve.
