I am a professional and experienced tutor of Mathematics and Physics.
I offer tuition in Maths, Further Maths and Physics from GCSE to University level, including all significant exam boards (Edexcel, AQA, OCR, CIE).
I am also actively tutoring for university (including Oxbridge) admissions and entrance exams (MAT, PAT, STEP, TMUA).
I have experience tutoring students with educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
I hold a masters degree (MASt, "Part III") in Applied Mathematics from St Catharine's College, Cambridge and a BSc (1st) in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Warwick.
I have tutored numerous undergraduate and graduate modules, including:
COMP1043 Mathematics for Computer Scientists 2 (University of Nottingham)
F3202 Mathematical Methods for Physics 2 (University of Sussex)
CMP4004Y Mathematics for Computing (University of East Anglia)
EART70161 Computational Mathematics (Imperial College London)
My experience also includes A-level Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics, including major exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel, OCR and CIE. I worked full-time as a tutor in the run-up to the 23/24 exam period, and all my students saw an increase of at least one grade over predicted.
I have experience tutoring for university admissions, such as the Mathematics Admissions Test (MAT), Physics Admissions Test (PAT), Test of Mathematics for University Admissions (TMUA) and the Sixth Term Examination Paper (STEP).
As a Part III Maths student at Cambridge I was involved in the marking of STEP papers for the 2023 admissions cohort, and thus have experience on both sides of the university admissions process.
My approach to tuition is problem-solving oriented and student focused. I aim to get the student solving exam-style questions as quickly as possible. I achieve my exceptional results, and ensure client resources are most efficiently used, by consciously maximising the lesson-time spent by the student solving questions.
As part of my tutoring packages, I commit ~30minutes/week of time beyond lessons to each client with a regular slot. A-level students tend to use this for the marking of past papers sat in exam conditions, which has been shown to significantly improve attainment. Admissions clients can use this time for the review of personal statements.
My preferred tutoring setup involves inviting the student to a (personal) Discord server to use for voice calls and to share files. I use a web-based whiteboard called Pencil Spaces which provides the functionality to review whiteboards from previous classes at any point in the future. I am open to discussing other tutoring setups to match your preferences, such as using other software to voice call and other whiteboard apps for classes.
