I am a qualified teacher with over 20 years experience in both the state and private sector. I am currently working as a full time tutor as I enjoy the deeply personalised approach I can apply when working one-to-one and seeing how students thrive as a result of it.
During my career as I teacher I have worked with students from KS2 to KS5 as I enjoyed the challenge of switching between a primary and secondary setting. I found this to be extremely rewarding, as it has given me an excellent insight into the different approaches required to ensure student success as well as a much more in-depth understanding of the progression in the curriculum. As a tutor, I have worked with a large number of students of various abilities and the vast majority of them have demonstrated increased confidence and enthusiasm for maths. A large number of my GCSE students are currently studying for their maths A level and enjoying the challenge as much as I ma enjoying supporting them to achieve their goals.
I believe that learning should be fun and relevant to the student. Lessons tailored to the learner's individual needs help them to achieve their potential and improve their confidence. I am patient and let the tutees set a pace of the lesson which they are comfortable with. I encourage them to ask questions and guide them to find the solution to a problem by developing their thinking skills and encouraging them to make links with what they already know.
