My love for teaching began first with teaching the piano at the age of 14. Having achieved my Grade 8 in 4 years and later my DipABRSM, I enjoyed seeing the transfer of knowledge and skill from myself to my students. Tutoring academically soon followed and I have formally been tutoring since sixth form, throughout medical school, and have continued whilst now practicing as a doctor.
My tutoring varies from home schooling students at KS1 level, to Biology and Chemistry at GCSE and A Level, to assisting students through their medical school applications and teaching medical students.
Outside of academia and music, I run my own women's health organisation that provides educational programmes in both UK and overseas. I also love to travel - the most interesting destination I have explored is Madagascar!
I have been a professional tutor for almost ten years, having tutored throughout medical school, continuing now in my practice as a resident doctor. I specialise in Biology and Chemistry at GCSE and A Level, as well as Medical school admissions. Nevertheless, my tutoring has varied enormously. I have home schooled students at KS1 level in Maths, Science and English, tutored Science at KS2 and KS3, and have mentored medical students, teaching both theory and preparing for clinical examinations.
Agencies I have worked with include Removed and the Higher Education Ambassadors Programme at King's College London, for almost 7 years now.
My successes include exceeding the predicted grades of my students and seeing students accepted into their desired university. Notably, with under a year of working with a year 13 student, we were able to push his grade from a C to an A, ensuring he was accepted into his first choice university. I have tutored students with disabilities and pride myself in combining my clinical expertise and teaching experience to tailor lessons to each individual student.
My teaching seeks to motivate and inspire students to strive beyond what is possible in the classroom. I work with students on a 1-on-1 basis, using their individual learning styles to tackle areas of difficulty. My approach is focused on identifying any gaps in knowledge of fundamental concepts and creating an individual spaced repetition plan. This provides students with a greater understanding of topics and equips them with methods for better retention. I also give short terms booster sessions to prepare students for rapidly approaching exams.
