I am a dedicated and enthusiastic History and Italian teacher working in North Yorkshire. I have a passion for learning and teaching, and I believe every child and adult learner has the potential to achieve when given the right support. I can offer you my professional skills and work experience to help you learn History and/or Italian as a foreign language. I also can help you with other humanities subjects such as Politics, Philosophy and Literature. I have graduated in Modern History at La Sapienza University of Rome. Later I moved to London where I did my Master’s degree in Modern European History at RHUL and completed a PhD in Modern Italian History at the University of East Anglia. I have also completed a PGCE with QTS in History, whilst teaching at KS3, 4 and 5 in two secondary schools in North Yorkshire. I am outgoing and enjoy working with children and adult learners from all backgrounds. I have large experience in working with a wide range of age-groups, both in the UK and abroad.
I have over 10-year teaching experience in schools and HE in the UK and abroad. I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and have received teacher training during my PGCE at the University of York, Huntington and Selby High School. I have also received teacher training from the University of East Anglia and from the Brilliant Club, a leading education charity in the UK. I have been teaching in schools and working with students ranging from 10 to 18 years old since 2011. I have a track-record of effective and inspirational teaching and can help students realise their full potential and achieve excellent results. In the spring of 2017 I taught History at Northgate High School in Dereham and helped pupils attain grades higher than the national average. I have large experience in teaching undergraduates, postgraduates and students with special needs. I have developed learning resources for both schools and history degree courses. I also work with mature students and have taught Modern History and Italian to a wide range of age groups and backgrounds. I have experience in working with adult learners with special needs too. I spent the last two years teaching in two international schools in Italy where I developed an ability to support ESL (English as a Second Language) students.
My teaching style is student-focused and I tailor my method and approach to cater for my students' needs and suit their aptitudes. I like to discuss with students (and parents) their learning experiences, goals and needs. I believe good communication is paramount in learning and teaching, and I am always happy to get feedback from my students and to adapt my style accordingly. I aim to furnish students with the confidence, knowledge and attitude to succeed. I also have experience in mentoring students with special needs and I am flexible to work with any age group.
