Daphne has been tutoring my son in English for over 7 months. My son was struggling with creative writing, comprehension and spelling and he has really come along in leaps and bounds after his weekly lessons with Daphne. She has a lovely encouraging manner with him, commands his attention and motives him to do his best. I’ve noticed that she has really pushed him outside of his comfort zone when it comes to creative writing and given him the confidence to use his imagination much more effectively. He has started to enjoy English as a subject much more which is a pleasure to see.

Daphne is a great teacher. My son is 10 years old and have learning needs. He requires a lot support with English and Daphne has been very helpful, patient and understanding. Daphne has been tutoring my daughter for a few months now in preparation for the 11+ and the progress Thea has made in such a short time has been amazing. Thea says Daphne is a fun teacher and makes English so enjoyable, easy to learn and easy to remember. Thea really enjoys the lessons and the variety of topics covered and feels she has improved a lot also. So much so, Thea had to go to the Headmasters office to show him her English creative writing piece because her teacher was so impressed! I am so pleased Daphne is tutoring Thea and feel the lessons have been so full of value every week.

Daphne informed me by email today that she can no longer tutor my twins after one lesson each yesterday due to her own childcare reasons after accepting date and times only a few days before.
I had raised a couple of queries an hour earlier which were entirely separate. I am now looking for a new tutor.

Hi, I have informed you that I have requested that ‘First Tutors’ returns your fee; as it’s not fair for you to wait weeks for me to sort out my childcare issues. It is rather unkind of you to give me this feedback.

Excellent tutoring. Both children have enjoyed their inital sessions with Daphne, they are engaged and have already shown an improvement in grasping the foundations of learning . Daphne has provided me with hints and tips to engage the children further with their homework too.
Daphne has shown a real interest in the childrens school and what level of learning is expected for their individual ages. We are now focusing on these criteria so that both children an meet, if not exceed, the standards set.

We were disappointed we never got going with tuitions for our son as Daphne withdrew from tutoring following our confirmation and payment. Daphne was though quick to contact us and explain the situation and explore options to compensate for the loss.

I was also disappointed that we didn't start but please do remember with your next Tutor that outside your tutoring slot there can't be excessive contact; I was more than happy to respond to a few dozen emails/messages but in regards to phone calls it is very hard as many of us also teach in schools and have families. So do wait until you meet your Tutor and then I am certain they will be happy to talk to you once you meet.

As you said I did try to offer you other options for compensation and I hope you find someone suitable.

My son at first was unsure about having a tutor but after a few sessions with Daphne he seems much more happier about continuing to have Daphne.
Daphne explains thing in great detail and is kind and patient and I think this is why my son is happy.

I had a wonderful session with Daphne. She is extremely good at understanding of my need to improve my English. We had a great conversation lesson and she suggested ways to improve my English. She gave me some tips to improve my skills which I have never thought of before. She gave me some books to reference. As homework I have worked on assessments and I must read.
I am suprised at how much I now love to reading English Classics. It's a big jump achieving and enjoying reading English books.
I would love to recommend Daphne to everyone who wants to learn English from scratch or to be more confident.
