Oxford graduate offering maths tuition.
I am a friendly, easy-going retired man. I spent my working life as a management consultant and project manager, and I have decided that in my retirement I would like to use my Mathematics knowledge to help other people.
I studied mathematics up to A level (getting A with Distinction, which is about equivalent to an A* today), then some more mathematics as part of my chemistry degree at Oxford University. Since retiring, I spent some time studying advanced physics, in particular classical mechanics, quantum mechanics and special relativity, all of which is highly mathematical.
Throughout my working life I have had roles in which I needed to teach or explain things to other people, and this has always been one of my greatest strengths.
I have delivered workplace training both formally and informally across a range of subjects.
My teaching style is one in which the student, under my guidance, not only solves the problem themself, but works out for themself the best method of solving the problem. In this way, they build confidence to tackle new problems and a toolkit of techniques they can apply to any challenge they face.
I am patient, good at putting people at ease, and equally comfortable working with young children on basic numeracy or with teenagers who want to ensure they get the top grades at GCSE. I can also work with adults who want to improve their numeracy or mathematical skills
