I enjoy helping people and making a worthwhile contribution to their education.
I am well organised and self-motivated.
I have a current DBS.
First, one hour lesson is free.
Please note that I teach remotely.
I qualified, as a teacher, in 1981 and I have a considerable amount of experience of teaching both adults and children.
I have worked with various learning difficulties and disabilities and this has required me to be very flexible in tailoring support for individual learners.
I enjoy 1-to-1 teaching as it allows for very focused work and it allows me to become familiar with each pupil's needs and to closely monitor and track their progress.
My qualification in Assessing the Standards of Teaching & Learning Through Observation (University of Hull - 2012) trained me to be critical of other tutors' teaching skills and I try to apply these standards to myself.
I like to quickly define definite goals with the learner and/or parent guardian and then focus on achieving them.
Although I prefer a reasonably relaxed approach, results only come with work so I try to strike a balance between these two.
