Hi!
I'm Dayana, a 4th year medical student at UCL, with a keen interest in helping students overcome the challenges of GCSE and A-levels.
With over 2 years of tuition and medical school admissions coaching experience, I have a wealth of knowledge and tips to help you excel at school/sixth form. I understand the challenges exam boards throw at students, having only recently completed my state exams before starting university 4 years ago.
Additionally for all those students keen to gain admission into medical school, I will be happy to coach and share the tips and tricks I have picked up having been through the same hurdles - including the UKCAT, BMAT, personal statement and medical school interviews.
My approach to exams and medical school admissions is to get in to the mind of the examiner (or admissions team). This approach has allowed me to focus on learning information and writing exams in a way where I know how to get the marks. Unfortunately, often times students may have put the hours into their revision but feel disheartened when they dont see the desired outcome - this is where I can help you. As someone who is very familiar with the main exam boards, I know what answers get the marks.
Additionally, I am keen to put theory into practise as evidence has shown that active recall is the best way to study for optimal results. Therefore I supplement all my teaching with a plethora of past paper questions and encourage students to go through the mark scheme with me in order to make sure you gets the marks you deserve.
Understandably, some concepts may be challenging to get an understanding of, however thankfully, I have plenty of analogies to help you understand the difficult topics you may come across, as well as useful mnemonics which will help you memorise those lists and save you time in the exam.
Using these approaches I have been able to consistently achieve A* in my exams and succeed in my medical school applications. I sincerely hope to share this knowledge and experience with my tutees and look forward to hearing from you soon!
