I have a profound passion for Education and have been teaching for ten years. The sense of gratification shared between both students and myself when we succeed together in achieving their goals is hugely rewarding. With a 100% exam pass rate for all my pupils to date, I truly believe my passion is contagious and evident in my student’s attainment. I continually strive to explore pedagogical techniques to ensure my sessions are enjoyable, individually tailored and challenging, whilst encouraging pupils to become self-reliant, reflective and driven to succeed. My lessons are supported by a range of teaching strategies and I always begin with clear and measurable outcomes, so that pupils are aware of their learning and have a clear trajectory. I find remote learning to be highly effective; utilising technology allows sessions to be interactive and stimulating. My teaching is individually tailored and personalised, which I feel is crucial for success. Fostering positive working relationships is something I take pride in, to ensure pupils are comfortable and supported in their learning. As well as working as a Private Tutor to international students from China, Spain, England and Northern Ireland, I have a rich wealth of experience teaching in both comprehensive and private schools. This has provided me with an understanding of how to accommodate the nuanced needs of a wide range of learners.

Tutoring Experience

My main subject disciplines are English, Drama and Acting. In addition to my main disciplines, I have also taught and tutored Religious Education, Music, PSHE, History, Geography and Science from KS1 to KS3. I have seen students through at GCSE level with a 100% pass rate. I also coach acting for LAMDA examinations with all pupils having succeeded in the grade entered for, as well as coaching for Drama School entry and English to non-native speakers as a secondary language.

I have experience in formally teaching ages 11-18 in both the private and public sector, which has given me a comprehensive understanding of how to facilitate the learning for a range of ages and abilities, as well as exposure to a number of various pedagogical methods, which I have used to influence my own practice.

Tutoring Approach

I endeavour to contextualise the subject matter in real-life situations as much as possible by exploring topical issues. I underpin every session with a range of teaching strategies; from creating sessions with clear and measurable outcomes, which are shared from the outset of the session to ensure pupils have clear expectations and can see the justification for each session and see what skill set is being developed on that day. As the younger generation are well versed in using technology, implementing ICT to support sessions and engage learners is incredibly beneficial and have experience tutoring both in-person and remotely. I create opportunities to include the use of technology to make my sessions interactive and stimulating.
