Please contact me today if you require assistance with the 11+ exams or the ISEB Common Pre-Tests, as preparation is especially crucial in the lead-up to the September and November exam dates.
I am a highly qualified English and Maths teacher (BA, MA, QTS) with 16 years of successful teaching and tutoring experience. I have worked across independent and state schools, as well as in Further Education colleges. Whether your child needs help catching up, building exam confidence, or learning in a way that truly works for them, I bring a calm, structured and empathetic approach that delivers results.
I deliver outstanding in-person and online lessons, home education support and bespoke educational resources designed to build students’ enthusiasm, confidence and skills in the two core subjects: English and Maths. I prepare students for a wide range of examinations, including the 11+ exams, ISEB Common Pre-Tests, 13+, 16+, SATs, GCSE, IGCSE, A-level, IB, IELTS, YELLIS and Ukiset. I am also qualified and experienced in designing and delivering courses tailored to students with ASD, ADHD, PDA and Specific Learning Difficulties. Additionally, I have served as a school governor.
Most recently, I held the position of Maths Lead Teacher at an independent school. Before that, I worked as a Maths and English teacher at a comprehensive school, where I was responsible for planning and delivering lessons to KS3 and KS4 students, as well as monitoring their academic progress. My experience spans both the Further and Higher Education sectors. I have worked as an English Language Teacher at a Further Education college and as a Research Assistant at one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities.
I have extensive experience in successfully preparing students for the specific requirements of the 11+ exams and ISEB Comon Pre-Tests in Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire. My students have gained entry to schools such as Wellington College, Bradfield College, Kendrick School, The Abbey School, Leighton Park School, Reading School, Lord Wandsworth College, Royal Grammar School, Salesian College, Reading Blue Coat School, Wycombe Abbey, St Swithun’s School.
As an experienced secondary school teacher, I have sound knowledge of the English and Mathematics curricula, specifications and assessment criteria of the following exam boards: AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and IGCSE. I pride myself on having a wealth of experience and knowledge in preparing students for GCSE English and Maths exams.
I have a reputation for building strong, positive and good-humoured teaching relationships with students. By forming good relations with my students and explaining the required concepts clearly, I manage to keep them interested and guide them to achieve success. I always try to make learning with me colourful and fun, rather than frightening and onerous. I work keenly with students who struggle with their confidence and ability in English and Maths and effectively build enthusiasm and confidence in them. I have helped many students achieve significant progress, both academically and emotionally, by creating a safe, non-judgemental space where they can feel heard, supported and successful.
