I am an enthusiastic, approachable and creative history teacher that is an experienced Head of History and Head of Humanities Faculty. I have a passion for the subject that I use to try and enhance my teaching, helping students to make successful progress and achieve higher grades.
I am currently the Head of History and Humanities having previously been GCSE coordinator for an 'outstanding' school in Essex. I have successfully implemented the new specification for the grade 9-1 GCSE as well as teaching the old specification. Last year my A Level class had an 89% achievement rate for students achieving or exceeding their target grade. In 2022 1/3 of students achieved an A or A*.
I have also worked for the exam board Edexcel, marking exam papers for the new 9-1 GCSE so am able to provide relevant help and advice for the new History GCSE. I have experience in teaching and tutoring AQA and OCR at A Level too.
I think that it's important to remember that tutoring provides a tailored, specific learning environment for students who want to progress and achieve. This type of learning is increasingly hard to find in a classroom with large class sizes and high work loads, therefore tutoring is a fantastic way to enhance learning, passion and attainment.
I have a very successful attainment rate with tutees at both GCSE and A Level and would be happy to provide testimony.
During this period of lockdown I'm more than happy to do Skype/ Zoom sessions at a discounted rate.
