I have a passion for languages, above all French, and enjoy helping learners to deepen their understanding and express themselves with confidence. I studied History and French at the University of Liverpool, where I also took Spanish classes, and I have spent time living in France and Mexico.
I currently teach classes to GCSE and equivalent level students in Britain and Ireland, where I like to keep English to a minimum and encourage my students to speak and listen in French (while also ensuring to go at each learner's pace). Throughout my time at school, university and beyond I have helped explain concepts in French and tutored informally to peers and family, so I am very familiar with the particular quirks and challenging aspects of French that tend to trip people up.
As a tutor I keep up to date with the GCSE French curricula and requirements for foundation vs higher learners. I know the importance of taking a flexible approach to each student; concepts in any language can be hard to understand at first, but with the right explanation there is always a way to make hard concepts more straightforward.
I offer support with schoolwork (including pronunciation, grammar, vocab and more), as well as exam prep, in a patient and supportive environment. We can spend as much time as necessary on areas of difficulty until students are feeling confident in their understanding and well-prepared for their exams.
