Private Maths and Physics Tuition in Hove

I am an enthusiastic maths and physics tutor based in Hove with over 18 years of experience. I offer both face to face and online tuition.

Tutoring Experience

I have taken tutorials for some 1st and 2nd year Mathematics courses at The University of Sussex and I have taught GCSE level maths at an independent school in Brighton. I have also been tutoring one-to-one for many years.

Testimonials:

"Edward has been a fantastic mentor for my son, even making him want to carry on with Maths at As level when his college have told him to give up."

Mrs Pooles - A level

“I honestly could not recommend Ed’s tuition highly enough. In the three years that he taught me I went from a U grade in my mock GCSE maths, to an A* at A2 level! I’ll be starting medical school in September and I could not have got there without Ed’s help, would recommend to anyone.”

Jo - GCSE & A level

"Edward Critchley helped both me and my daughter with Maths tuition this year, for GCSE higher level and IGCSE respectively. We both made excellent progress and grew in confidence with help and encouragement from Ed, who combines an easygoing manner with an extremely serious and professional approach to teaching his subject. Ed is able to get right to the heart of a student's confusion very quickly and to give clear and well-illustrated explanations. I couldn't recommend Ed more highly."

Tutoring Approach

I encourage the tutee to take an active part in deciding what it is they need to learn/review. Past papers done in their own time normally provide a good basis for helping one decide which areas of the syllabus have been understood and which have not been so well. I hold informal but focused tutorials.
