I have over 10 years of teaching experience across mainstream school and special educational settings. I have taught GCSE Maths and Science. I also have 3 years experience of preparing students for their 11 + entrance exams. My passion for teaching 11+ developed when I supported a family member with their exam preparation and their gained a place at their chosen grammar school with great results.
I enjoy working with special educational needs and I have been told I am able to bring about calm to all situations and engage the difficult to reach students too.
My passion for maths developed during my college years when I discovered that Maths is a subject that can actually be conquered with practise. I would like to share this passion with others to challenge the negativety around this amazing subject.
I have tutored 11 + students for over three years, both face to face or via Zoom depending on their requirements. I have tutored students from year 3 onwards for the 11+ for both of the exam boards GL and CEM. I tutor other primary school children that want to build on the fundamentals in English and Maths and then excel.
In a school setting I have worked with autistic children at primary school age, aswell as students with mental health issues from years 7 to GCSE level. I tutor SEN students to develop their confidence and self belief in the core skills in English and Maths.
I also tutor students up to Key stage 3 in Maths.
I enjoy being able to make a positive contribution in students' lives. I am able to speak Urdu and Punjabi aswell as English.
I ensure students feel comfortable and instil confidence in them regardless of their ability. I do not carry out a formal assessment at the beginning of their tuition journey, but I spend a little time to work out their weaknesses and strengths. I then ensure all weakness are worked on.
I focus on teaching the subject content and then tackle corresponding questions with the students. For homework I will set practice questions & assessment tests. I provide numerous practice papers to allow the students to build on their examination techniques.
