I am a reliable, professional and passionate tutor with 7 years experience, with an MA in Medieval History from King’s College London. I graduated with a first-class degree in History, with a year of Latin, having won the award for the highest grades in my year in both my second and third years of undergraduate study. This experience provided me with the skills and expertise required to advise and tutor on a wide range of topics. With 8 A*s and 5 As at GCSE and AAA*A* at A-Level I have achieved personal success in the subjects that I teach through a true passion for learning, which I hope to impart to my tutees. I aim to bring this knowledge and enthusiasm to all my lessons, making sure they are interesting and enjoyable, whilst also being highly focused and geared towards the individual students’ progression. This has meant that all of my students have achieved their aims.
Throughout my time as an undergraduate and MA student I have successfully tutored many students in History, Classics and Latin at a range of levels, regularly achieving significant improvements in grades in both exams and coursework, whilst providing academic encouragement. Whilst at university I mentored weekly in the history department, running essay workshops and proof reading essay drafts and dissertations.
In addition, I have helped many A-Level students with UCAS applications and drafting personal statements in order to secure places at top universities.
The most important aspect of tutoring for me is to tailor the programme of study to the tutees individuals needs and requirements, based on their specific goals and time frame. In order to achieve this, I work closely with a tutees curriculum to deliver the content and knowledge necessary, whilst also honing and strengthening the core key skills needed. However, I also believe that academic success is achieved through building up a students’ confidence in their own ability and instilling within them a sense of pride in their studies and accomplishments. I am a very friendly and warm tutor, making every lesson enjoyable and providing support my tutees.
I am constantly modifying and improving my own study practices, becoming more effective at researching, writing and exam preparation. In my tutoring sessions I aim to share my own experiences of efficient learning with my tutees, whilst adapting these and finding new methods of studying that suit the individual student and their learning styles. Such lessons can be carried on through a tutees academic and professional careers, ensuring continued success.
