As an ex-Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for raising achievement in a high performing specialist Science and Mathematics Academy, I have supported the academic success of thousands of students over many years. Classroom experience, supported by nine years as an Examiner for a leading national examination board, has also underpinned the vital knowledge of appropriate revision and formulation of answers to examination questions. I thoroughly enjoy my interaction with students, which take place online or face to face.

Further experience of working in the Aerospace Industry and Trans-Atlantic sailing helps me to give students a relevant glimpse of how their present studies can be applied in the wider world.

Tutoring Experience

Twenty years of teaching experience in a high performing specialist Academy, included Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Teaching at post-16 College also underpinned the examination requirements for A level. For the past eight years, my integrated approach to student's success involves a seamless blend of face-to-face and technology platforms, over four subjects.

Tutoring Approach

Prior to the commencement of tutoring, I offer a free consultation session with students and their parents or carer, in which the needs of the individual student can be explored. This is especially important during this academic year, where students may have gaps in their knowledge due to the disruption of their prior education.

Together we review the current academic report with empathy, and listen to the concerns surrounding the subject, including barriers to learning and discussion of appropriate learning styles.
I subsequently construct an individual syllabus-specific course of study, aimed at achieving above and beyond the target grade. Although very time consuming, I thoroughly enjoy preparing the courses, and building strong professional relationships with students and their families. Class lessons are also available online.
