When I studied Music at university, I focussed on Music history, theory and analysis. I am a keen pianist and my area of expertise is Jazz and late-romantic harmony, though I am familiar with the analytical approaches to the music of the Baroque and Classical styles.
Studying Latin and Greek at A-Level, I almost went on to read Classics at university. Part of my motivation for signing up to this website is that I miss reading these languages, unpicking complex scentences, and accessing the great world of classical literature that is shut off to most people.
I have a fair amount of experience teaching Piano and music theory, but I am new to purely accademic tuition.
I think that the subjects I know - Latin, Greek, Music theory - are much simpler than they are often made out to be. I hope to demystify these areas and to show students how rewarding it can be to unlock them.
Ultimately, I think the most important thing a teacher can do is to teach you how to teach yourself.
