As an experienced and well-qualified teacher (BA Hons, PGCE, CELTA and QTS), I offer an exceptional tutoring service. I have over twenty years’ experience of teaching in schools and colleges in the UK, and am currently employed as Head of Academic at Bruern Abbey School, a specialist independent preparatory school in Oxfordshire, for boys with dyslexia and other special educational needs. I will be providing online tutoring sessions from July 2025, but am taking reservations for pupil places now. Tutoring Experience

I am a successful and dedicated school teacher, with over twenty years’ experience of working in both state secondary schools and independent preparatory schools in the UK. I am a specialist teacher of English and literacy to neurodiverse pupils, Eg, pupils with dyslexia, ADHD and ASC, and have a proven track record of significantly raising levels of attainment of my pupils, particularly those who struggle with reading and spelling. I have helped many pupils prepare for 11 plus exams, entrance exams and in addition offer independent senior school interview practice. I have also taught GCSE English for many years, and am qualified and experienced in teaching English as a foreign language to adults.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is simple: by building confidence, I unlock potential. I use my vast experience of classroom teaching, a broad range of resources and activities, along with my passion for education, to ensure pupils are comfortable and enjoy my lessons, thus enabling them to achieve great things. My online lessons are imaginative, challenging and stimulating. They are pitched and paced at the appropriate level to provide the vital reinforcement and embedding of ideas necessary for each pupil to succeed in a range of exams, from 11 plus and entrance exams to GCSEs. Frequent reviewing of targets and sharing regular feedback is all part of my service. Independent school interview practice, handwriting focus and reading support sessions are also available.
