With an Engineering degree from Oxford University, I'm the Head of Physics in a large comprehensive school in Surrey. I have over 13 years experience of teaching Science to GSCE and Physics at A-level. I have been tutoring A-level Physics for more than 10 years. I have two teenage children and enjoy walking our dog and cycling.
Working as Head of Physics, I am an enthusiastic and patient teacher. Happy to work with students who need help with the basics or stretching those aiming for the highest grades. I love my subject and I am determined to pass on that enthusiasm to my students. I am familiar with all three main exam boards (OCR, AQA and Edexcel) and I am confident that I can help you improve your grade.
I am happy to support GCSE or A level students with their Physics learning, either teaching new content or to revise work preparing for exams or assessments.
We will start by completing a knowledge review in order to identify areas of strength and weakness. Using this I will prioritise topics. Sessions then consist of covering content to fill gaps in knowledge, then applying this content through exam question practice and questioning.
Although sessions will be content focused, I also aim to keep students engaged by using real world examples and short videos to help explain concepts.
Before assessments I will focus sessions on exam preparation and technique.
