I studied Law at University and had a long career in banking. When I had my own four children I retrained as a primary school teacher. This has been a rewarding and amazing career ! My own children are now all in secondary and I have found tutors invaluable. The one to one support and more relaxed learning environment has greatly helped my own children's confidence, skills and engagement with learning.
I have been teaching for six years with the last three years being in Year 6. This means I am really well placed to help with SATs revision or transition into secondary. I can also support younger children moving through primary.
I myself studied English Literature, History, Classics and Music at A-level and then went onto study Law. I would love to move to secondary education once my own children leave school so would relish supporting KS3 & KS4 children with English literature or language and any essay-based subjects.
The most important thing when supporting students to learn is to develop a relationship and to help them to gain confidence in their learning. I have worked with many students with literacy difficulties including my own children and understand that there are many ways to teach. I think being positive, helping your pupils to believe in themselves and having fun are a great way to learn. All learners are individual and I will tailor the sessions to support them appropriately.
