I had a very positive educational experience and very much enjoy sharing my knowledge and helping others to achieve their goals. I am educated to degree level; in 2004 I graduated from De Montfort University with BA Joint Honours Business Studies and German. I like to keep my knowledge of the subjects I teach as up to date as possible by keeping abreast of current events and utilising online resources.
I have received positive feedback from student who I tutored for ‘A’ level German for how I taught her grammar and from my most recent student for being an excellent teacher. Reasons for my students terminating lessons include life changes or achieving their goal.
I worked as an English Language Teaching Assistant in Cologne for nine months from September 2002 until May 2003 teaching a variety of subjects including Business Education, Travel Education and forwarding. My students were aged eighteen years and upwards from different backgrounds. I did my lesson preparation, conducted my lessons, provided the teachers with assistance and also offered small private lessons for students who required extra support.
Since 2003 I have taught English as a Foreign Language and German privately on a short term basis and long term basis. My most recent student studied German for 3 years with me; averagely my other long term students have maintained their lessons with me for one to two years.
My experience of English as Foreign Language includes preparation for the IELTS exam, for a university thesis and for casual learning. For my German Students I have tutored for ‘A’ level German and on an adult casual learner basis covering grammar, oral, listening and written work.
I conduct my lessons in a professional and informal manner encouraging my students to be confident in their abilities, teaching at a pace that suits them. When teaching a subject I ensure I have provided the information, the information has been understood and will set a task to give my student(s) an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of that subject. Some examples of the tasks I might set are role plays or games. I also use some traditional teaching methods such as vocabulary tests and text books as they can also be effective.
