Hey!
My name is Ethan. I'm a third-year student at Loughborough University studying Geography and Economics, who has just come back from a semester abroad in Singapore. I'm looking to offer my tutoring services in Geography and English Literature!
I've always been really into understanding how our actions impact the world around us, especially when it comes to climate change. Since GCSE, I have always had a deep-rooted passion for geography, questioning why things are the way they are in both human and physical systems. My current research is in Sustainability and renewable energy; however, I have a broad knowledge of all major geography-related topics covered at GCSE and A level, and am eager to share my passion with others, hopefully empowering students at GCSE and A level to develop my contagious passion and strive to pursue meaningful and fulfilling futures, whatever that may be!
That same passion for questioning why things are the way they are also manifested in my study of English Literature during GCSE and A level. As an avid reader who is also dyslexic, I completely understand the trials and tribulations students face studying this subject, which sadly ends up in a dislike for English more often than it should! My goal is to help your child, whatever level they are, create, foster, or deepen their appreciation and understanding of these two subjects, to help them get the grades and to the places they deserve!
I'm looking forward to hearing from you so we can discuss how I can help your child make the most of their studies!
All the best, Ethan
I am fully TEFL qualified with a focus on online teaching. I informally helped a friend in Argentina prepare for his Cambridge B1 English, exams, which he passed with a high grade.
Qualifications wise, my relevant most recent qualifications include:
Degree Level:
- BSc(Hons) Geography and Economics (Loughborough) (Working at a 2:1)
- Semester abroad (National University of Singapore): Average B+
A Level:
- Geography A*
- History A*
- English Lit A*
- EPQ A
My approach is rooted in questioning 'why is this the way it is?', and never taking anything at face value. I am a firm believer in the power of case studies, it is all well and good learning the theory, but to truly understand something is to see it in action, and how a theory works in reality. Whether this be a political policy, the influence of a life event on an author, or the processes within a volcano, I always relate everything I teach to a case study, coming back to the question 'Why?'.
In aiming to engage and support students throughout their learning journey. I offer flexible remote sessions tailored to fit your schedule no matter where in the world you may be. My focus is on creating a fun and supportive learning environment where we can explore big issues together. Whether it's delving into sustainable energy solutions or brainstorming ways to protect our planet, I'm here to guide you every step of the way.
