I'm Evie, a graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University with a Secondary English PGCE. Previously, I graduated from Lancaster University with a First Class Honours Degree in English Literature. I also achieved an A grade in English Literature at college.
I have been passionate about English from a young age and I love helping students to become more confident in reading and analysing texts.
While I am new to tutoring, I have a year's experience of working as a secondary school English teacher in Greater Manchester, where I taught students from ages 11-16. I also have experience working with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, as I completed part of my training at a specialist provision.
I am patient and empathetic in my approach as I understand that every person has slightly different needs. I am happy to provide tuition for students aged 11-16, up to GCSE level, whether it be general assistance or guidance with specific skills or exam questions.
I can tutor students in both Literature and Language, but my key area of expertise is Literature. At university I studied a range of texts including plays, novels and poems, from a variety of time periods. I can also provide support with essay writing, looking at how to apply your knowledge to suit the format, as well as support with grammar or spelling as needed.
I am happy to support with any GCSE literature text, but am particularly knowledgeable on the following: Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, Blood Brothers and AQA Power and Conflict Poetry.
