Private Online Physics and Chemistry Tuition

I am a qualified science teacher with a BSc (Hons) in Medical Physiology. After completing my degree, I gained teaching experience as an unqualified teacher in a secondary school. This afforded me with a wealth of teaching experience, including secondary science and A level chemistry, as well as teaching a life skills subject, working with children with personal or behavioural difficulties and covering lessons in a range of secondary subjects.

As a result of my experience, I then went on to complete my teacher training at the University of Birmingham and gained a PGDipEd (QTS) qualification in science (specialising in A level chemistry).

I completed my NQT year at an inner city school in the West Midlands. During this year I was fully responsible for a triple science GCSE chemistry group as well as another GCSE science group. The Year 11 triple science chemistry class had not had a GCSE chemistry teacher for year 10 or year 9. Despite the odds, I dedicated my time and effort to bringing them up to speed with the subject and led them to successfully attain 40% A*-A, the highest percentage of A-A* achieved in the 2016 cohort across all subjects within the school. The class also achieved 90% A*-C. In addition to this, I also taught A level chemistry and tutored GCSE students in Coventry and Nuneaton during evenings and weekends.

I have worked in an outstanding school for the past year and a half, as part of a 3 person science team and I contributed to the Ofsted 'Outstanding' judgement of the school. My department was praised in the Ofsted report for the following strengths: 'The most able pupils, including most able disadvantaged pupils are challenged and supported to reach very high levels of attainment' and 'high-quality teaching has led to many pupils having scientific understanding beyond that expected for their age'.

Altogether, I have over 6 years of teaching experience. My main goal is to offer quality and outstanding science tuition to young people. I am passionate about my subject and I hope to inspire young people with the same enthusiasm and love of science, as well as, helping them to gain a competitive GCSE or A level qualification.

Tutoring Experience

I am a qualified science teacher, specialising in chemistry. I completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and gained qualified teacher status at a highly respected training institution. This qualified me to teach science (including A level chemistry) to the 11-19 age range. I have worked in several inner city schools across the West Midlands with a variety of young people of different abilities and backgrounds.

I have taught the new AQA GCSE Science 9-1 specification and as a result I am very familiar with the content.

Proof of qualifications and DBS certificate are available upon request.

Tutoring Approach

Informal, relaxed approach, remaining close to the tutees needs and their specific exam board.
