I have a First Class degree in BSc Mathematics. I have always been fascinated by mathematical studies and, having a flair for the subject, there was never any doubt that I would choose mathematics as a degree. I relish the challenge of problem solving that mathematics provides. For me, it is an endlessly intriguing subject, as the discipline appears limitless, allowing so much scope for further study and research. Pure mathematics is my personal favourite because of its focus on thought processes and problem solving techniques.
Apart from Maths I love reading around a number of different areas, fictional and non- fictional. I am also an avid sports fan and love to hike and practice yoga. I love spending time in nature with my two boys and currently run a Nature Club for children. I am a very diverse person with various hobbies and interests, far too much to include here.
I am a qualified maths teacher. I taught for five years at a comprehensive school in Birmingham. Since moving to Peterborough I have worked as a supply teacher in many schools across the region.
I like to teach more than just the subject, by bringing in real life examples and experiences. I like to be imaginitive, by drawing on my own interests, and whatever interests others, I try to bring maths to life. This is the method I have also used to teach myself in preparation for exams.
I feel it is extremely important to be an active listener, taking in to account everything the pupil has to say, and working around that. I would stick to the syllabus when tutoring, and test the pupil in a variety of exciting ways, such as quizzes and games.
