I have over 10 years experience as a biomedical research scientist with a PhD in Pharmacology from King's College London and a first class degree from Oxford University in Biochemistry. My research has focused on arthritis and pain, and the mechanisms behind inflammation. I have extensive academic writing experience having published over 10 primary research articles and written three reviews and one book chapter on topical aspects of my research.
As well as providing tutoring in chemistry, biology, physics and maths, I can help with Oxbridge preparation, general discussion to develop a scientific mind, and advice on careers in science.
I am a versatile lecturer and tutor having tutored students as young as year 6 and up to postgraduate level. I have delivered lectures and tutorials on a wide range of biomedical topics at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the UK and Canada. Modules include Pharmacology, Neuroanatomy, Pain, Autonomic Nervous System, and Experimental Pharmacology of Inflammation. I have supervised many BSc project students and proofread numerous PhD and MSc theses, as well as acting as the examiner in mock PhD vivas.
I am a STEM ambassador and frequently give talks in secondary schools to all age groups on careers in science. I've previously been a resident scientist at a Building Bridges Event at the Science Museum, London for school children learning the art of science journalism.
I am a friendly and patient tutor. I benefitted from one-on-one tutoring at Oxford University and feel that this personalised approach can enhance learning for every student. I am ready to work with students to help them achieve their specific educational goals.
