I am currently Head of Geography in an East London school and have been teaching for 10 years. I have taught all ability groups from Year 7 to Year 13 students. I am also a member of the Chartered College of Teaching.
I have taught and been an examiner for the AQA and OCR examination boards. I have a great insight into what is expected of students at GCSE and A level standard, and the ability to explain skills and concepts in an easy to understand way for students of all abilities. Alongside my friendly and patient approach, this achieves student success and progress.
I have taught geography for the past 10 years covering KS3-KS5 and achieved great overall results with my classes (for example 2022 GCSE 91% 7-9) as well as significant progress. I am confident teaching a wide variety of geographical topics and have excellent knowledge of both AQA and OCR specifications at GCSE and A Level. In more recent years, I have started private tutoring at A Level for family friends with all students increasing their grades. I have also assisted my A level geography students in the UCAS application process when applying for university and higher education, and am happy to advise on personal statements.
My approach is individualised, patient and with a focus on building confidence. This is crucial in achieving the best possible result in assessments and making progress. Everything (topic knowledge, practising key skills, overcoming misconceptions, revision techniques, deciphering exam questions and mark schemes etc.) is adapted to suit your learning style and needs, in a way that sometimes cannot happen at school due to time restraints and class sizes. I hope along the way to continue to foster a love of this dynamic and vital subject too.
