I am currently reading for a BA in English and philosophy at the University of Nottingham. I am passionate about English, and was lucky enough at school to have a series of inspiring English teachers who taught me well. It would therefore be a pleasure to impart that knowledge and expertise to students seeking it. A good understanding of the English language and how to use it effectively to engage your readers, communicate clearly, and formulate strong arguments, is a very useful tool, which will aid you should you wish to pursue a degree-level subject or go straight into the workplace.

I have experience tutoring my brother through his exams, upon which he achieved exceptional grades.

Tutoring Approach

I tutor students in English Literature and Language. In my tutoring sessions I focus on preparation for exams, in particular showing you how to plan and structure your essays. My exercises include encourging you to write an essay which I then mark, showing you areas that could, for example, be more clear or concise. I will also teach how to structure your arguments so that they are sound, and each point follows logically from the point before it. My knowledge of history will also help you run through the historical contexts of the texts you study, an understanding of which will assist you in achieving a high grade.
