I have worked professionally in astronomical outreach for over 14 years. 12 of which as the founder director of the Kielder Observatory. I have worked extensively in media including TV radio and live speeches. A lifetime studying astrophysics and related fields (observational and theoretical) has led me to change my life completely and dedicate it to furthering the word about how important an awareness is in astronomy and physics. I led the science team and trained them delivering inspirational lectures in astronomy and physics around the world. Culminating in awards from Durham University in 2012 (Masters) and Sunderland University in 2017 (Fellowship). I am also a published author I have been described by peers as a natural teacher and so would like to inspire young people and hopefully make a small difference.
I have been teaching astronomy and physics to young and old for over 20 years now. Founded and set up an astronomical observatory and guided it to successfully delivering events to over 22000 visitors per year. Regularly hold lectures and teach astronomy via various media platforms. Am fully conversant with the mathematics of astronomy to A Level in school environments.
My approach is concept driven - If a student can understand the problem as a thought experiment and or relate it to everyday life then the structures can be easier to convey. I am confident and friendly - as a father of 4 professional adult children I know what its like to be a parent and the student and with my wealth on knowledge I know I can assist the learner.
