Hi. My name is Gautam. I am currently a first year Mechanical Engineering student studying in the University of Southampton. I am keenly follow the automotive and aviation industry hence my choice in course.
Having completed my A-Levels in 2022, I achieved 3 A* Grades in Maths, Physics and Computer Science. I also have achieved Grade 9s in GCSE Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, Grade 8s in Computer Science and English Language and Grade 7 in English Literature.
My aim as a tutor is not just to teach concepts and ideas for students' understanding, but also provide them with guidance to help them independently identify weaknesses and resolve them on their own which will help the be stronger learns and go into an exam with confidence
I take pride in being organised when dealing with both personal work and tuition work relating to any of my students, making an emphasis on strong and regular communication between myself, students and parents.
Having achieved top grades in maths and physics at both GCSE and A-Level, I can confidently say that I am proficient in teaching these subjects to GCSE students. I currently tutor A-Level Physics where I use a variety of techniques to help students better understand concepts which close to a 100 hours of experience.
Depending on which way a student is inclined, for those who understand better by way of example, I try to use analogies to help portray ideas across and those who are more mathematically inclined, I use derivation of equations and graphs to help students to better understand. A combination of this supplemented with answering questions together helps me create an interactive experience for students and better prepare them for exams.
As someone who had tuition for A-Level, I understand the concern that students may have regarding how effective a lesson can be virtually, rather than in-person. However, in my experience, I had found online tuition to be just as effective as the in-person tuitions I had for GCSE, and in many ways, online tuition better suited my schedule. When tutoring online, I am aim to deliver the same experience that I had when I was being tutored.
As I tutor virtually rather than in-person, I have made sure that the lack of physical interaction does not detract from the quality of a lesson. I am able to achieve this through screen share on web chat platforms where I can write equations and sketch diagrams using a tablet on applications such as Microsoft OneNote. Keeping virtual notes means that students can refer to notes made outside of the lesson in addition to their own self made notes if they have to. Whilst the use of a camera is an effective way for students to show me their work, I have also found that students being able to describe their working out, and verbalise their process to me better solidifies their understanding of a topic.
Having lessons virtually means that timing and scheduling is generally more flexible I won't be reliant on other factors such as transport which can often result in less time for me to teach during the week.
