I'm a maths teacher working at a secondary school in Kettering. I teach students at all ages and all levels from year 7 to year 11 (12 years to 16 years.) I have an Economics degree from Liverpool university and a PGCE.
Prior to becoming a teacher I worked 23 years in business for a major FMCG company.
Outside of school I have 3 boys of my own who are all of secondary school age.
Maths teacher of 2 years
My approach is to work with the students to help them achieve the best results they possibly can to meet their potential. I follow Rosenshine principles which is a method whereby the teacher shows the student the method, then we solve a similar problem together and then the student practises what they have been taught.
If the tutee is preparing for GCSEs then I would suggest they complete a practice paper first and then we can work on any gaps in knowledge.
