Hi, I’m George. I graduated from the University of Leeds with a Master’s degree in Mathematics and have a year of experience working in the finance industry. I tutor STEM subjects at GCSE and A-Level, helping students build confidence and a deeper understanding of the material.

I am passionate about making subjects accessible and enjoyable. I bring a friendly, approachable style to my lessons, keeping them fun and engaging while ensuring students make real progress. I offer both in-person lessons in Sheffield and online sessions, with flexible scheduling to suit student needs.

Tutoring Experience

During my gap year, I ran my own tutoring business, teaching 15+ students aged 8–18 across all STEM subjects throughout Sheffield. I developed strong relationships with my clients and earned excellent reviews for my supportive and effective teaching.

I also worked as an in-school tutor with Yipiyap, providing one-to-one support during lessons and delivering small group sessions. In this role, I helped students consolidate their understanding, improve confidence in STEM subjects, and achieve measurable progress. I collaborated closely with teachers to tailor my support to each student’s needs, ensuring lessons were engaging, inclusive, and effective.

Tutoring Approach

I take a dynamic and personalised approach to tutoring, guiding students through problems step by step while encouraging them to think critically and independently. My lessons are interactive and conversational—I ask questions, listen carefully to students’ ideas, and adapt explanations to suit understanding. I enjoy breaking down complex concepts in a creative, innovative way, helping students build a deep understanding of the material rather than just memorising answers. By combining questioning, active listening, and practical problem-solving, I create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel confident to explore and develop the skills they need to succeed.
